Antoni Palluth, born in
Pobiedziska ,Greater Poland (then in theGerman Empire ) was a civilian employee in the German section ("BS-4") of the PolishGeneral Staff 'sinterbellum Cipher Bureau. He was a civil-engineering graduate of theWarsaw Polytechnic . In January 1929, he was one of the instructors in acryptology course organized by the Cipher Bureau, atPoznań University , which was attended by selectedmathematics students including future Cipher Bureau civilian employeesMarian Rejewski ,Jerzy Różycki andHenryk Zygalski .In the 1930's, Palluth was a director of "Wytwórnia Radiotechniczna AVA" (the AVA Radio Manufacturing Company) in Warsaw, which produced cryptologic equipment designed by the Cipher Bureau.
In March 1943, while attempting to cross the border from German-occupied
France intoSpain , Palluth was captured by the Germans along with the Cipher Bureau's chief, Lt. Col.Gwido Langer , the German section's chief, MajorMaksymilian Ciężki , and civiliansEdward Fokczyński andKazimierz Gaca .Palluth died during an Allied air raid at the German Sachsenhausen
