Southville International School and Colleges

Southville International School and Colleges

Southville International School and Colleges, or SISC is a private, non-sectarian school in the Philippines that is fast gaining local and international recognition as a world-class academic institution committed to global excellence. Chosen by the Department of Education (Dep Ed) as a "School of the Future" in January 1997, SISC Basic Education is currently accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), based in the United States, and is the only Dep Ed school with this distinction. To add, meeting steep international standards, SISC worked for its ISO certification and became ISO 9001:2000 certified in 2004. Also, the school was recently authorized as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. What Southville International School and Colleges is at present is the result of a challenging journey that started with a quest for quality education on a par with global standards.

History

Southville International School and Colleges was founded in 1990 as Southville International School (SIS) with the vision of developing excellent learners through effective and innovative educational strategies. Starting out with a simple single-storey building (Elizalde) with the basic facilities required by the then Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS), five teachers, and two students, the school was initially hailed as a "Special School for the Gifted." From offering preschool at Elizalde campus, SISC eventually expanded to offer lower (grade) school and upper (high) school. SISC grew, not only in terms of student population and excellent and enhanced academic programs, but also in terms of infrastructure. To accommodate the influx of enrollees from different countries, Luxembourg Campus in Las Piñas City was opened in 1993. That same school year, 1993-1994, saw the first batch of grade school graduates. SISC's growth continued with the entry of high school students in 1994. In 1998, SISC formed linkages with prestigious schools abroad, such as London City College in the United Kingdom affiliated with Schiller International University in Europe and the United States, to offer foreign college diplomas, the first school in the Philippines to do so through the Southville Foreign Colleges (SFC). Course offerings include International Business, International Marketing and Advertising, and Public Relations Management. The following year, 1999, the S.E.E.D. Foundation Academy, a night school which offers diploma courses in Information Technology, was also established.

SFC - At present, Southville International School and Colleges and Southville Foreign Colleges have the distinction of being the only partner schools which offer both Commission on Higher Education (CHED) college degrees and international college degrees through their regular and foreign colleges' course offerings, respectively. Southville Foreign Colleges (formerly SISFU) now has affiliations with other schools such as IHMES International Hotel School in the British Isles, and American City University in Wyoming (2002) offering International Hotel and Restaurant Management, Information Technology, Computer Graphics and Animation, Business Administration and Marketing, and Masters in Business Administration. Southville International School and Colleges under the CHED, on the other hand, opened in June 2002 and offers courses such as BS Nursing, BS Tourism, BSBA Major in Finance, Human Resource Management and Marketing, BS Entrepreneurship with a special tracking in Fashion Design, BS Information Technology, BS Psychology, AB Mass Communication, AB Media Arts, BS Elementary Education Major in SPED and BS Entrepreneurship.
