Lara Davenport (born 1983) is an
Australia n freestyle swimmer who specialises in the 200 m event.At the
2007 World Aquatics Championships inMelbourne , Davenport competed in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay. She swam the third leg in the heats, setting the second fastest split among all swimmers, in 1 min 58.51 s to help Australia qualify fastest for the final. As a result, she gained selection in the finals team at the expense ofBronte Barratt andLinda Mackenzie , who were Australia's representatives in the individual event. She swam the third leg in the final, but could only manage 1 min 59.28 s as Australia came fourth.At the
2008 Australian Swimming Championships she qualified for the2008 Summer Olympics inBeijing as a member of the 4×200 m freestyle relay squads by coming fourth in the individual event.She swam the heats of the relay, and collected gold when the first-choice quartet won the final in a world record time.
