- Mickey's Circus
-
Mickey's Circus is an animated short film produced by Walt Disney Productions and released 1 August 1936. Known crew include director Ben Sharpsteen and animators Milt Kahl, Frank Thomas, Al Eugster & Shamus Culhane.
Although the film is called Mickey's Circus, the film mostly features Donald Duck; however Mickey Mouse does feature in the beginning and end. Also featured are a trio of trained Sea Lions, a young Sea Lion pup, and an audience full of children.
After being introduced by Mickey to the crowd of children, Donald and his Sea Lion act enter the circus ring, followed by a young Sea Lion pup. Much of the cartoon focuses on Donald's attempts to complete his circus act, but being thwarted by the pup. During the first act, juggling, Donald tries to stop the pup from stealing fish intended for the adult Sea Lions, and during Donald's second act he again faces the young seal who is stealing the show. Whilst trying to intervene, Mickey and Donald are fired from a canon and perform an unrehearsed high wire act, much to the amusement of the crowd. The cartoon ends with both Mickey and Donald performing a high dive into a pool.
