Charmian Purcell Personal information Born January 7, 1979 Medal recordWomen's Basketball Competitor for New Zealand Commonwealth Games Silver 2006 Melbourne Team Competition Charmian Purcell (born January 7, 1979 in Papakura, Auckland) was a member of New Zealand's Women's Basketball team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In the game they played against China's team in which they were defeated 80-63 she scored six points and got two rebounds.
She plays as a guard for the Christchurch Sirens. In 2001 Purcell was named New Zealand's Most Valuable Player in the under 23-year-old category.
Purcell is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
