SunRun Inc. SunRun was founded in 2007 by Ed Fenster, Nat Kreamer and Lynn Jurich. Nat Kreamer got the idea for founding the company while serving in the Special Forces in Afghanistan. Lynn Jurich and Ed Fenster met while at Stanford. The company uses a Power Purchase Agreement [cite news|url=http://www.mercurynews.com/business/ci_10279342?source=rss|title=Power-purchase agreements reduce cost of solar panels|last=Nauman|first=Matt|date=22 August 2008|work=San Jose Mercury News|accessdate=2008-08-23] (PPA) business model whereby homeowners pay for electricity usage but do not buy solar panels outright, reducing the initial capital outlay required by the homeowner.

SunRun remains responsible for installation, maintenance, monitoring and repairs. SunRun's main competitor is SolarCity, which offers a lease program.
