MetaTeam is a collaborative team performance management Web application made by eVisioner Incorporated, a privately held software company based in the Greater Boston area of Massachusetts. The application was first released in Spring 2008.

MetaTeam focuses on the day-to-day governance of work teams in the areas of:

* Goals setting at the team and individual levels
* Roles definition and assignment
* Accountability management
* Decision making
* Relationship management

MetaTeam lets teams self-organize while helping management monitor, prioritize and direct teams across the organization. These capabilities allow the organization to normalize team practices and broaden the management of team-centered performance. Because employees use MetaTeam as a collaboration tool in their daily work MetaTeam also addresses the task of performance improvement within an individual team. These two complementary uses of MetaTeam place it at the intersection of organizational development and project management. In particular, MetaTeam addresses the Project Human Resources Management Knowledge Area of the PMBOK.

MetaTeam puts the emphasis on the objectives and relationships of the team and is therefore well-suited to an informal project management approach, as well as to the more formal methodologies. The same attributes give MetaTeam the ability to mediate the work of virtual teams.

MetaTeam is available in a free core-features version and in a full-featured commercial version.
