The entry for Russia was band Premier Ministr with the song "Northern Girl". Premier Minister later anglisied their name for Eurovision, and entered as Prime Minister.

At the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 in Tallinn, Estonia, Prime Minister performed 7th, following Croatia and preceding host country Estonia. At the close of the voting it had received 55 points, placing 10th in a field of 24.
