- East Anglia Medieval Fayre
The East Anglia Medieval Fayre is an annual British
medieval reenactment event originally staged nearBury St Edmunds ,East Anglia , which is moving to new venue, Cressing Temple, near Braintree in Essex (www.cressingtemple.org.uk) for 2008, when it will run over the weekend of September 13th & 14th.The East Anglia Medieval Fayre was held for the first time in July,
2005 , and deemed successful enough to make it a regular event.The event lasts a single weekend and for 2008 features many leading medieval re-enactment groups, including The Order of Fighting Knights, Tournee, The Swords of Chivalry, Great Northwood Bowmen and Horses through History. A packed programme of events leads up to the grand finale, which will be a Joust and Melee re-creating the famous Ivanhoe Tournament, run by John Tremelling of Horses through History. Other displays include Falconry, Dance, Archery, a Sword Tourney A Plaisance (i.e. not to the death!)Story Telling, and Juggling. There will be Living History encampments to explore, a Medieval Market plus quality food and traditional ales and beers.
In the 2005 event the German
medieval rock bandSchelmish performed between the scheduled shows.
