Satin is an unincorporated community in Falls County, Texas, United States. Its elevation is 400 feet (122 m), and it is located at coor dms|31|20|48|N|97|1|54|W|city (31.3465629, -97.0316610). [gnis|1367787] Although Satin is unincorporated, it has a post office, with the ZIP code of 76685; [ [http://www.zipinfo.com/cgi-local/zipsrch.exe?cnty=cnty&zip=76685 Zip Code Lookup] ] the ZCTA for ZIP Code 76685 had a population of 109 at the 2000 census.GR|2

Located along FM 434 in the northern part of the county, the community was founded in 1872, although at a slightly different location; residents moved to the current site in order to be along a newly-constructed line of the San Antonio & Aransas Pass Railway. The community was originally named Laguna, but by the time that it received a post office in 1917, the name had been changed to "Satin" in honor of an employee of the railroad.
