Paul John Doucette (born
August 22 ,1972 ) is therhythm guitarist and formerdrummer for the bandMatchbox Twenty . A native of North Huntington,Pennsylvania – a suburb located roughly 15 miles SE of Pittsburgh in Westmoreland County – Doucette graduated fromNorwin High School in June 1990. He now lives in California.After moving to Orlando, Doucette met Rob Thomas and
Brian Yale . The trio formed the core of what would become Matchbox Twenty. He is credited with naming the band. His biggest musical influences areR.E.M. andKenny Aronoff .Personal life

Doucette started composing music for film in 2004. He composed the score for the Nickelodeon film "
Shredderman Rules " and wrote the song "Better Days" for the film. He also won the 2005 Rhode Island Film Festival award for Best Score for the film "Just Pray".Doucette is currently working on his solo project
