Gabriele Tredozi was born
September 9 ,1957 in the town ofBrisighella , close toImola ,Italy . Mad about cars, he dreamed that one day he might somehow become involved inFormula One racing. This passion was translated intomechanical engineering studies at the famous engineering school atBologna University . While he was still a student he heard thatMinardi was looking for engineers and went for an interview at the Minardi headquarters inFaenza , just down the road from Brisighella. He was hired immediately and in 1988 began working with the race team as an assistant race engineer withPierluigi Martini andAdrián Campos . His relationship with Martini was a long-term one, engineering Martini for a total of five seasons: between 1989 and 1991 and then again during 1994 and 1995 when Martini returned to the team when Minardi andBMS Scuderia Italia merged.In between his two stints with Martini he also engineered
Christian Fittipaldi in 1992 andFabrizio Barbazza in 1993. He remained a race engineer until 1996 when he looked afterPedro Lamy . In 1997, following the departure ofAldo Costa to Ferrari, he was appointed technical coordinator of the team. Responsible for both the design and production areas as well as for on-track technical management, he stayed in that role under technical directorGustav Brunner . When Brunner went off to Toyota in 2001, Tredozi became technical director at Faenza, where he controls the day-to-day operation of the drawing office as well as the technical staff. When Minardi was bought and turned intoScuderia Toro Rosso , he stayed on until he was replaced byAlex Hitzinger in mid-2006.Married to Claudia, he has one son, Tommaso. His main hobby is
cycling .
