Irvine, California . The Bolts are founded by brothers Addam, Heath, and Austin Farmer (nephews of musician and ex-Beach Boy, Chris Farmer). The group now is made up of Addam Farmer, Heath Farmer, Austin Farmer, Matt Champagne, and Ryan Kilpatrick. The Bolts was created in late 2007 as Addam and Heath Farmer moved away from their previous musical group, The Jakes. When they first started playing, the group was made up of just the Farmer brothers, whom later called upon Matt to play drums and Ryan to play guitar.The Bolts got their start with the help of Tazy Philips, whom booked them for their first gig at The District @ Tustin Legacy.
Just weeks after their first gig at the District, The Bolts landed their demo version of "Like a Fantasy", the title track to The Bolts current full-length album, on Los Angeles-based
KROQ 106.7 FM's Locals Only radio show. Two weeks later, KROQ snatched up yet another single from The Bolts, "She Don't Know What She Means", for airplay on KROQ's Locals Only. KROQ's promotion of the band helped to launch the group towards a path of success.Since then, The Bolts took part in Bamboozle's "The Break" contest to compete for a spot to perform at Bamboozle Left in
Orange County, California . The Bolts ended up taking first place out of 1,000+ groups that entered the competition, and were off to perform Bamboozle Left in mid-April 2008, alongside mainstream actsJimmy Eat World ,Paramore , and theAll-American Rejects .Soon after that on May 3, 2008, The Bolts recently released their full-length album, "Like a Fantasy", on May 3rd at the
Irvine Spectrum . The event was sponsored by Nordstrom which held a CD signing for the band afterwards. There was an estimated 500 fans that lined up to get autographs from the musical group.References
