Zabolotiv

Zabolotiv ( _ua. Заболотів, _pl. Zabłotów) is a town in the Sniatynskyi Raion of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast in Western Ukraine. The population is 4,129 (2001).

History

Starting from 1790, there was growing Jewish community which had managed to become important part of local life. Later on, there was anti-Semitic unrest in the beginning of XX century, with first pogrom in Zabolotiv in 1903. Another turn of history was coming German Nazis which exterminated one part of Jewish population and expelled the other one into the flee to USA and Israel.
