Ukrainian Soviet competitions

Consistent Ukrainian football (soccer) competitions were taken place since the establishment of the Russian Football Union in 1912. They were regional competitions as well as the All-Russian competition. At that time the bigger part of Ukraine was governed by the Saint-Petersburg. Since the establishment of the Ukrainian SSR and until 1936 those competitions still were taken place as the regional inter-cities competitions as well as the inter-republican. There also were few Ukrainian football clubs, in the western part of today's Ukraine, Halychyna, that successfully participated in the All-Polish football league.

In 1936 the Soviet Football Union officially organized the first club competition in Moscow. Until 1991 that competition was changed many times including the League structure, the names of the leagues, and the organization of the republican level competition that later was included as part of the lower leagues. The consistent All-Ukrainian Soviet competition take their beginning since 1963 as the first All-Ukrainian league was formed as part of the Soviet Second League, more known back then as the Klass B, with UkrSSR zone. In 1970 the Soviet Second League was named as the second group of Klass A for the season, before changing to simply the Soviet Second League. For 1990 and 1991 seasons this competition was moved further down the Soviet league levels into the newly formed Soviet Second League B also earlier known as the "G group" or simply the "Third League".
