Edgar Vincent Griffin is an English
politician , previously of the Conservative Party.He was a
councillor for St Johns Wood Terrace Ward on St Marylebone Borough Council from 1959 to 1965. Griffin is the father ofNick Griffin , Chairman of theBritish National Party and his wife Jean was a councillor for the BNP. In August 2001 he was expelled from the Conservative Party after being found guilty of "assisting" the BNP, when he answered his wife's BNP hotline in his home because she was out posting letters. At the time of his expulsion, he was vice-president ofIain Duncan Smith 's party leadership election campaign inWales .Edgar Griffin has been a Freemason since 1947. Among many senior Masonic appointments, he has been Worshipful Master and Worshipful Commander.
