"The Book Tower" was a British television series for children that ran for 11 series from 03 January 1979 to 30 May 1989. Initially presented by Tom Baker,cite news|url=http://www.accessmylibrary.com/coms2/summary_0286-18613637_ITM|title=TV pun writer Rick now in a class of his own|date=2005-02-04|work=Europe Intelligence Wire|accessdate=2008-08-09] then starring in the BBC science fiction series "Doctor Who", each episode explored one or more books, using dramatic presentations, with the aim of getting children interested in reading.
