Prohibition (writ)

Prohibition (writ)

A writ of prohibition is a prerogative writ sought in a court of appeal, usually requesting a ruling from the appellate court that a lower court be prohibited from undertaking further action on a cause pending before it. The two main grounds in seeking a writ of prohibition are::1. The trial judge is illegally presiding over the case, and :2. The trial court has lost legal jurisdiction to try the case.
