----Joachim Sauter (*1959) is a German media artist and designer.
Biography
Joachim Sauter studied design at the
Universität der Künste Berlin (Berlin University of the Arts ) and direction and camera at the German Academy for Film and Television,Berlin . He has been usingcomputers both as a tool and as a medium from the early stages of his work. A pioneer ofnew media , he has developed and shaped this field with his works from the early 1980ies on.
In 1988 he founded the new media design studio ART+COM, together with other artists, designers, scientists and
developers . Their goal was to practically research this new upcoming medium in the realm of art and design.Since 1991 Joachim Sauter is a full professor for "
New Media Art and Design" at the Universität der Künste Berlin, since 2001 adjunct professor at the “Media Art and Design Center” at theUniversity of California ,Los Angeles .Joachim Sauter lives and works in Berlin.
