Professor atUniversity of South Carolina . He is internationally known for his research in the area ofbiomimetic materials fordrug delivery andtissue engineering applications. He has developed novel conjugated nanoparticles for targetingtumors and sustainedprotein delivery. He has also developedpeptide -reinforced cell-responsivenanocomposites for skeletal tissue regeneration. Currently he is anAssociate Professor of Chemical andBiomedical Engineering andAdjunct Professor ofOrthopedic Surgery . He has published extensively in the area ofbiomaterials , drug delivery, and tissue engineering. He has 3 books, 6 book chapters, over 60 peer-reviewed publications, >50 refereed proceedings preprints, 18 invited lectures, and >120 presentations at International conferences. He received hisPhD in Biomaterials atPurdue and his Masters degrees, in chemical engineering andchemistry , and hisundergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering atVirginia Tech .In 2008 he received the Stephen B. Milam Research Award from the
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation for his contribution to developing novel auto-inductive biomaterials as scaffolds for repair of maxillofacial and cranial tissues. He serves on theEditorial Board of the Open Tissue Engineering & RegenerativeMedicine Journal. He is a member of the Outstanding College Students of America, theNew York Academy of Sciences , and Who is Who inEngineering Education . He is also a member of honorary engineering societyTau Beta Pi , Chemistry SocietyPhi Lambda Upsilon , and Research SocietySigma Xi .External links
