"Proxiuber australe" is a small species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Naticidae.

Distribution

This species is endemic to northern New Zealand north of Auckland, including the Three Kings Islands.

Habitat

This species is found at depths of between 10 and 175 m.

Description

The solid shell is small, globose, with a narrow open umbilicus, smooth and shining.

Coloration is dark purplish-brown, often paler towards the suture, and with a spiral row of whitish spots just above the periphery.

The shell height is up to 7.5 mm, and width is up to 7.5 mm.
