- Lee Farnworth
Lee Ann Farnworth teaches Political Science/Public Administration and Issues in Diversity/First Nations at
Algonquin College inOttawa where she has been a full time professor for 17 years. Lee has a long history of community involvement. She was elected a hydro commissioner (1988-94) as well as serving two terms as a city councilor (1994-2000) for the former city of Nepean. [ [http://www.cbc.ca/canadavotes/riding/173/ CANADA Votes 2006] , CBC]Lee was President of her Community Association for many years, has been on the Board of Directors of Nelson House, a shelter for women and children who are victims of violence, is past president of Nepean non-profit Housing Corporation, and was also on the
City of Ottawa ’s Health & Social Services Advisory Committee. She has also been involved with Ottawa Women in Trades and Technology,Ottawa Women's Training and Employment Network and the multicultural community in Ottawa. Lee Farnworth has been recognized for her community involvement with the 2003 Y Women of Distinction Award for Volunteerism as well as the Canada 125 Medal for work in her community.Lee and her husband Ted have lived in the area for 27 years where they have raised their two children, John and Sara.
A graduate of
McMaster University (History) andQueen's University (B.Ed), Lee has also been a high school teacher and was aCUSO volunteer inPapua New Guinea .Footnotes
