The Project Management Institute's Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)SM credential was launched in 2008 to recognize the specific skills of those individuals who identify project risks and prepare plans to diffuse those risks. Credential Eligibility

Applicants with a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) must have 3,000 hours of experience of professional project risk management within the last five consecutive years and 40 hours of formal project risk management education. Applicants without a bachelor's degree must have a high school diploma, associate's degree or equivalent. Those without a bachelor's degree must have 4,500 hours of professional project risk management experience within the last five consecutive years and 40 hours of formal project risk management education. Credential Examination

The exam for the PMI-RMP consists of 170 questions--20 of which are considered pretest or un-scored questions. The questions have been developed by risk management professionals, are monitored through psychometric analysis, and fall into four categories: risk communication, risk analysis, risk response planning and risk governance.
