Tannishtha Chatterjee (Devanāgarī:तनिष्ठा चटर्जी) is a Delhi born Indian actress. Known for her performance in the film adaptation of Monica Ali's best selling novel Brick Lane. Early life

Tannishtha Chatterjee majored in Chemistry from Delhi University and then went to National School of Drama [ [http://specials.rediff.com/movies/2007/nov/06slide1.htm Career at NSD] ] . Thereafter she worked in India and Europe with Well known Theatre directors.

Career and Media

Tannishtha 's performance got appreciated in german film Shadows of Time. It took her to International film festivals like Toronto and Berlin. Following these, Tannishtha acted in various films like "Strings", "Kasturi" and "Bibar". Bengali film Bibar won her the critical acclaim and best actress awards. Her work in a British film Brick lane directed by Sarah Gavron gave her international exposure and recognition.

Expected to be acting with Martin Sheen in her next film.
