Lofty Wiseman

John "Lofty" Wiseman is a British author and survival consultant, and a former member of the Special Air Service (SAS), the British special forces unit.

Wiseman was the youngest member to pass selection for the SAS in 1959 aged 18, entering from the Parachute Regiment he joined a year earlier. He went on to serve on the SAS for 26 years, rising to the rank of Sergeant Major [http://www.survival-school.org/Default.aspx?tabid=372 Trueways Survival School] John Wiseman's biography] .

On leaving the SAS in 1985, his first book was "The SAS Survival Handbook" published in 1986. He also markets a range of survival knives (currently closed), and is a consultant for the Trueways Survival School.

Wiseman was also the instructor for the selection/training phase for the show, Castaway 2000.
