Luisa Piccarreta

The Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta, also known as "Little Daughter of the Divine Will" is a proposed Roman Catholic saint; a mystic and author notable for having allegedly "survived on nothing but Communion wafers for sixty-five years". (Leon J Podles, "The Church Impotent", 1999, p 133). She was born in Corato, Bari, Italy in 1865. [http://www.catholicdoors.com/isit/isit04.htm] She died in 1947and the Archbishop of Trani opened her Cause for Beatification in 1994. [http://www.ewtn.com/expert/answers/luisa_piccarreta.htm] . The case for her Beatification is now (2008) with the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints, however some believe her writings satanic. [http://www.catholicdoors.com/isit/isit04.htm] dubious. Her diocese is preparing the critical edition of the writings with commentary, for the review of the Holy See. [http://www.causaluisapiccarreta.it/comunicatoProt0098.aspx] .

Obedience to the Church

The Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta was always submissive and obedient to the Church, always represented on her confessors. During the period from 1884 until her death in 1947, the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta was under care and the obedience of several confessors apointed by her bishop. One of their confessors and more important promoter of the Divine Will (Luisa's doctrine) was the Holy priest (already canonized): St. Father Annibale Maria di Francia (Hannibal Mary Di France) [http://www.difrancia.net/www3/index.php?lang=en] .

Luisa Piccarreta wrote 36 volumes in a diary format and few more writings, all out of obedience to her confessors, and sometimes under the penalty of mortal sin.

'Any attribution of heterodoxy to her constitutes a grave injustice' (Msgr. Giovan Battista Picchieri. Archbishop of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie-Nazareth). [http://www.ewtn.com/expert/answers/LuisaClarifications.htm Official Clarification] .

On this basis, and being that the investigation at diocesan level about Luisa has confirmed these facts without any doubt, the Archbishop, Msgr. Carmelo Cassati, of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie-Nazareth, with the permission of the Holy See, in a solemn manner opened the Cause for Beatification of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta in 1994.

Latter, on October 29, 2005, the diocesan process of the Cause for the Canonization and Beatification of the Servant of God was declared officialy completed by Archbishop Msgr. Pichierri. After the process finished at diocesan level, all the documentation was committed to the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints starting in this way the process of the cause at the Holy See level.

On certain misconceptions related with Servant of God

"The Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta, is in the Church, is with the Church, is for the Church, as Her obedient daughter. Luisa is a Catholic woman who consumed her life in prayer and in daily suffering, always sweetly submitted to priestly authority and to the Magisterium of the Church. To interpret Servant of God outside this view is to falsify the truth..." (Archbishop of Trani) [http://www.ewtn.com/expert/answers/LuisaClarifications.htm]
