Airdrie Transit is a public transportation system which serves the city of Airdrie, Alberta, Canada, which is located just north of Calgary within the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor. Service consists of three scheduled bus routes which operate 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday, and a special needs transit program which also provides a dial-a-ride service for everyone in the evening and on Saturday until 10:00 pm. There is no Sunday or holiday service. [ [http://www.airdrie.com/transit/index.cfm/ Airdrie Transit - getting you there] ]

Commuter bus service is provided independently by First Student Canada (formerly Cardinal Coach Lines) on several routes between Airdrie and downtown Calgary, on Monday through Friday. [ [http://www.cardinal-cal.com/ First Student Canada - Calgary and Area, Commuter Schedule] ]

Changes

As the fastest growing city in Canada, in 2007 changes were made to the transit system to accommodate the increasing demand. Another bus route was added and frequency of service was increased to 40 minutes, with fares being reduced to encourage rideship. Regional transit planning for the Calgary area could lead to bus rapid transit in the short term and ultimately heavy-rail commuter train service to Airdrie.
