The Praxis Business School, Kolkata is an institute imparting post graduate education in management. It is located on Bakrahat Road, Rasapunja, on the southern outskirts of Kolkata city, in the state of West Bengal, India.

History

Founding

The institute was established in July 2007

Campus

The institute is located in its own sprawling convert|10|acre|km2|1 campus in Rasapunja, away from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis. Praxis has one of the most breath-takingly beautiful academic campuses in the country - spotted with scenic locales, ponds and exotic birds.

Kollaborative Klassroom

In a B-School, much of the learning is expected to happen outside the classroom -- in hostels, in the canteen and elsewhere -- where students are expected to interact with and learn from each other. Praxis takes this philosophy to the digital domain through its unique educational Social network service called the Kollaborative Klassroom. This is a Web 2.0 platform that allows students, faculty and staff to interact with each other, formally as well as informally, and share notes, data, documents, assignments and even movies and videos without being constrained by the limitations of time and space.

Virtual Campus

The Praxis campus at Rasapunja, Kolkata is extended into the virtual world through a presence in Second Life. Praxis owns the island of Mayapur [ Mayapur = Land of Maya (illusion) ] and carries on with its experimental distance education program in this very exciting medium.

Connectivity

The entire campus is covered by WiFi connectivity and students and staff can access the Internet over high speed dedicated lines.

Library

The School has an excellent library.

Hostels

The campus has a hostel that provides single room accommodation to students with modern amenities and recreation facilities. Every room has a WiFi connection, which enables fast and round-the-clock Internet access. For the visitors, the institute provides guest-rooms.

Other features of Praxis

The Duck Ponds

There are many ponds on the campus, every one of them larger than the previous. One always sees at least one pond irrespective of where he/she is in the campus. Provides the twin advantage of cooling the air and fishing. The school has a troupe of ducks that keep the ponds clean.

Night Canteen

Located on the roof of the hostel, this is the place where the 'real' academic discussions happen. Over a game of table tennis and a cup of hot tea along with aloo paratha, students go into the wee hours of the morning discussing the last class, the next company and the latest movie on the LAN. This is the place where most of activity happens - day and night.
