The local baseball league for Wilton Manors Florida (On the North boundary of Fort Lauderdale). First chartered in 1955, Mickel Field has been the league's home ever since. This park is a 5 acre parcel that was originally leased to the league for $1 a year, by then city Mayor Perry Mickel. Mickel later donated the land to the city of Wilton Manors for the sole purpose of youth sports. Wilton Manors Little League's most successful year was 1961, where the Majors Division won the District Championship and then went on to win the Florida State title, with coach Charlie Mitzel. Wilton Manors Baseball was home for MLB players Scot Shields of the Anaheim Angels and Ryan Shealy of the Kansas City Royals.
