"From Now On" ("Daqui P'ra Frente") is a multi-awarded 2008 film. The screenplay was written by Catarina Ruivo and Antonio Figueiredo. The film was directed by Catarina Ruivo, and starred Edgar Morais, Luís Miguel Cintra, Adelaide de Sousa, and Antonio Figueiredo.

The film depicts different forms of love and how we must learn to cherish it against all odds in the pursuit of happiness...

Plot

Dora (Adelaide de Sousa) divides her time between her work as a beautician, her policeman husband António (Luís Miguel Cintra), and her involvement in left-wing politics. Nelson (Edgar Morais) will, through violent and mad acts, make them realize that what they have in the present is more valuable than what they reject from the past and desire for the future.

The film was produced by Paulo Branco, one of the European most respected film producers.After "Andre Valente", acclaimed by festivals and international media, Ruivo had the opportunity to shoot with some of the Portuguese best actors, which, along with the beautiful cinematography by Rui Pocas give the movie a strong energy that is seen on screen.The already known security and fluidity of Catarina's work matches perfectly with a pertinent and impulsive screenplay.The choice of young talents such as Edgar Morais (only 16 years old when shooting "From Now On"), and some cinema "monsters" like Luis Miguel Cintra and Isabel Ruth was extremely wise; Edgar Morais proved to be one of the "strongest" new-generation actors, Luis Miguel Cintra and Isabel Ruth give performances as "big" as themselves.The great cast contributes to the creation of a field where characters are fenced and stories of power, persistence, love and sensibility are born."From Now On" screened for the first time in 2007 at the Rio Film Festival, (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and was widely released in France and Germany September 18, 2007.The official premiere took place in Lisbon, Portugal January 24, 2008.

oundtrack

The soundtrack was composed by Vasco Pimentel. It is notable for its use of sharp, string instruments to create a cold and discomforting sound from instruments frequently used for their warmth and softness.
