As an alternative to cross eye viewing, in the 1980s a team of 3 phsycists invented a new type of prismatic viewer that tilts your right eyesight slightly up and the left eyesight slightly down. When placing the right view on top of a (letter/A4 size) paper and the left view below, viewing from arm length distance (ca. 50cm) creates a stereo experience.
