George Christopher Cutts Pepys

George Christopher Pepys Cutts was the fifth Bishop of Buckingham from 1964 to 1974. Born on 29 June 1914 [ [http://www.thepeerage.com/p22935.htm#i229343 thePeerage.com] ] , he was educated at Winchester College and Oriel College, Oxford [Who's Who 1970 London, A & C Black, 1971 ISBN 0713611405 ] and studied for ordination at Ripon College Cuddesdon before a curacy at "St John the Divine, Kennington" [ [http://www.mcmorran.org/_sites/sjdk/ Parish web site] ] . After wartime service in the RNVR he was successively:Rector of Hartfield, Sussex [ [http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/th/read/SUSSEX-PLUS/1999-10/0938769983 Details of incumbents] ] ; Vicar of "St Mark, Portsea"; and finally, before his elevation to the Episcopate, Rural Dean of Liverpool ["Rural Dean Of Liverpool To Be A Bishop (Official Appointments and Notices)" The Times Wednesday, Mar 25, 1964; pg. 16; Issue 55969; col D] . He died in post on 4 April 1974.
