"Eupatorium compositifolium" commonly called Yankeeweed is a herbaceous perennial plant in Asteraceae native from North Carolina to Florida, west to Texas. [cite web | url = http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=1&taxon_id=250066733 | work = Flora of North America | title = Eupatorium compositifolium] Like other members of the genus "Eupatorium" it has inflorescences containing a large number of white flowers with disc florets and no ray florets, and is 0.5 to 2 meters tall.cite web | url = http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=1&taxon_id=112351 | title = Eupatorium | work = Flora of North America ]

It is closely related to "Eupatorium capillifolium" and "Eupatorium leptophyllum" and some authors consider all of them to be varieties of "E. capillifolium".cite web | url = http://www.fs.fed.us/database/feis/plants/forb/eupcap/all.html | title = Eupatorium capillifolium | work = Fire Effects Information System | publisher = U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Research Station, Fire Sciences Laboratory | accessdate = 2008-08-06 ] However, "E. compositifolium" is not as tall as "E. capillifolium" and is found in dryer areas. [cite journal | title = Factors Affecting Germination of Dogfennel (Eupatorium capillifolium) and Yankeeweed (Eupatorium compositifolium) | author = Gregory E. MacDonald, Barry J. Brecke and Donn G. Shilling | journal = Weed Science | volume = 40 | issue = 3 | date = Jul. - Sep., 1992 | pages = 424–428 | url = http://www.jstor.org/pss/4045284 ]

Because it is not grazed by livestock, and mostly not eaten by wildlife, it is considered undesirable in places like pastures and controlled by means such as herbicides. Bovey | journal = Weed Technology | volume = 5 | issue = 1 | date = Jan. - Mar., 1991 | pages = 214–217 | url = http://www.jstor.org/pss/3986818 ]
