Corporate history

Eracent was started in 2000 by Walt Szablowski, Marc Henness, Tammy Snyder, Andy Balmuth and Terry Palmieri. The Eracent Software had been created at GCC, a Corporation founded by Walt Szablowski and Marc Henness to develop software to inventory computers,that software became the start of what is now Eracent.

Eracent developers began building what is now known as the EnterpriseAM auto discovery and asset management process in 1996 in conjunction with a large corporate client. The purpose of the development effort was to provide the client with an automated means to inventory the entire scope of IT assets deployed across the network worldwide. At that time the network consisted of nearly 200,000 desktop and laptop computers running a combination of Microsoft operating systems and applications, along with network servers and engineering workstations running various versions of the UNIX operating system.

Since 2000, Eracent has been offering a commercialized version of the discovery software that was successfully deployed. It was offered for license on the open market as EnterpriseAM. With that successful commercial launch, Eracent has continued to address customer business and technology needs, applying world class development, testing and support techniques to a suite of products. Today Eracent's average customer has over 20,000 computers in their networks and Eracent's largest customers have over 250,000 client systems in their networks.

Eracent continues to develop software designed to help IT departments manage their networks and computers more efficiently. Eracent has both Agent Based and Agentless solutions to meet client requirements. This includes discovering all IP based devices. The resultand data is used for auditing, security, change management and patch management of software. Eracent is unique in its native ability to maintain an accuracy rate of over 98%.

Asset Repository, CMDB and CMS

Eracent has asset management and Configuration Management Database (CMDB) software that allows organizations to keep track of physical IT hardware and software contractual, licensing issues as well as supporting ITIL v3, ITSM and CMS.

License and Entitlements Management

Eracent offers a License and Entitlements Management product that automates the process of determining software licenses. Eracent was the first company to develop an automated License and Entitlements Management Process and continues to maintain the development lead in this category.
