flyLAL Training is the largest aviation specialist training centre in Lithuania, currently providing Boeing 737-300/400/500 and SAAB 2000 type rating courses, cabin crew training, practical training on FFS (Full flight simulator) and Fire Fighting and Smoke Simulator, ground handling specialists and other training courses. Training courses are held in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.

Training centre flyLAL Training operates on the basis of Certificate No. LT/TRTO-41 issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of the Republic of Lithuania. By virtue of this certificate, flyLAL Training entered the list of training centres recognised in Europe and may admit students not only from Lithuania but from other countries as well.

Limited liability company flyLAL Training is one of 6 companies controlled by Public Limited Liability Company flyLAL Group Services. The companies controlled by flyLAL Group Services as well as flyLAL - Lithuanian Airlines AB belong to the same Lithuanian-capital group of aviation business companies.

Training Base

Fire fighting and smoke simulator available in flyLAL Training satisfies the requirements and standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) and Civil Aviation Administration of the Republic of Lithuania (CAA) and is the only simulator of this type in the Baltic States.

flyLAL Training possesses a Boeing 737 Full Flight Simulator which by 100% imitates flight on aircraft. It is the first simulator of this type in Lithuania. The first practical pilot training on this simulator will be launched in autumn 2008, in Lithuania. Until then, pilots can acquire these skills only in foreign countries.

flyLAL Training was also the first in Lithuania to purchase a modern Boeing 737 pilot training software CBT (computer based training) enabling remote training from any place in the world.

flyLAL Training is the only training centre in Eastern Europe providing SAAB 2000 Type Rating training.

History

The training centre has been operating since 20 September 1991, when the restoration of Lithuanian independence was followed by reestablishment of the national air company Lithuanian Airlines, which among other services provided pilot and cabin crew training services.

In the year 2005, upon privatisation of the state enterprise Lithuanian Airlines (100% of the air company’s shares were acquired by the investment consortium flyLAL Group AB) and change of the trademark into flyLAL, the training centre continued its activities as a unit of flyLAL – Lithuanian Airlines.

In 2007, flyLAL – Lithuanian Airlines AB ceased providing training centre services. Private Limited Liability Company flyLAL Training Center founded in the end of 2006 (later renamed into flyLAL Training) started independently developing its production capacities and scope of activities.

In the course of 17 years of operation, the training centre has trained over 10 thousand aviation specialists: pilots, cabin crew, technical and ground handling personnel.
