John Auld (footballer)

John Auld (born 7 January, 1862 in Lugar, Scotland died 1932) was a Scottish footballer who played for Sunderland and the Scotland national football team as a Central defender. Auld played for Sunderland during 1890 to 1895 where he won two League Championships, in; 1892 and 1893. [cite web|url=http://www.safc.com/history/?page_id=6525|title=Past Players ( A )|publisher=Sunderland A.F.C.|accessdate=2008-07-29] After making 100 league appearances and scoring 5 goals, Auld left Sunderland for their arch rivals, Newcastle United.

He gained his first cap for Scotland on 19 March 1887 against England where they won 3–2.
