Idols is a Finnish television show based on the British Pop Idol format. It is produced by FremantleMedia and aired by MTV3 and Subtv. In Finland Idols is well-known for its strict judge Jone Nikula and a few singers that have become famous, for example, Antti Tuisku.

eason one

The auditions were arranged in Helsinki, Tampere and Turku. The semifinals started on December 12, 2003 and on January 9, 2004 Hanna Pakarinen was announced winner. Pakarinen won 30,000 euros and a recording contract with BMG Finland.

eason two

The second season of Finnish Idols started in Autumn 2005. This year, auditions were arranged also in Oulu. Although only 1,479 people auditioned for this season, it was a big success (the second season picked up more spectators than the first). Semifinals started on November 13, and Katri Ylander was the favourite. However, Ilkka Jääskeläinen defeated her in the final on December 18, with a vote share of 55%. Ilkka Jääskeläinen went on to sell albums after the season two ended. He has now, however, lost his record contract after his less than stellar record sales.
