It was established in 2004 as a joint of two branches; King Saud University Qassim Branch and Imam University Qassim Branch. Later on Education Colleges became a part of Qassim University. The main campus is located in the center of Al Qassim Province and covering 7.8 Km2. Other campuses are available in different cities in Qassim.

Currently, many colleges are available in Qassim University including Sharia College; College of Arabic Language and Social Sciences, College of Agricultural and Veterinary, College of Economics, College of Science, [http://www.qumedicine.org/ College of Medicine] , [http://www.qec.edu.sa/ College of Engineering] , College of Computer, College of Applied Medical Sciences; [http://www.qudent.org/ College of Dentistry] , College of Pharmacy; Science College in Zelfy; Community colleges and Girls Education Colleges.
