Harold A. Lockwood (April 12, 1887 in Newark, New JerseyOctober 19, 1918 in New York City, New York) was one of the most popular original silent film actors and matinee idols of the early film period during the 1910s.

Often paired with actress May Allison, the two became possibly the first celebrated on-screen romantic duo. The two first shared the screen opposite one another in the Allan Dwan directed romantic film "David Harum" and would appear in over twenty-five films together during the World War I era. However, the two were never romantically involved off-screen.

Harold Lockwood was also among the all-star ensemble cast of the 1916 D.W. Griffith directed classic "Intolerance" which included Lillian Gish, Robert Harron, Mae Marsh, Douglas Fairbanks, Sam De Grasse, Wallace Reid, Mildred Harris and Carol Dempster.

Lockwood died in 1918 when he contracted the deadly Spanish influenza virus that ravaged the world in 1918 and killed between 25 million and 50 million people. Lockwood was 31 years old.
