Fairey Firefly within theBelgian Air Force . Designed to improve on theRenard Epervier , which was never adopted by the Belgian government, the R-36 was approved by the Belgian Air Force in late1938 , and 40 aircraft were ordered. However, on 17 January 1939 the prototype crashed, resulting in the halting of the order. The order was then dropped in favour of theHawker Hurricane .Specifications
