speed=The Type 38 15 cm Howitzer was a howitzer used by the Japanese Army duringWorld War I , the2nd Sino-Japanese War andWorld War II . It was aKrupp design, license-built by the Osaka Armory after the end of theRusso-Japanese War . The first batch of howitzers may have been delivered directly by Krupp prior to start-up of production by Osaka. It was obsolete by the beginning of World War II, but remained in use in second-line and home defense units. Surplus weapons were mounted on the chassis of theType 97 Chi-Ha medium tank as theType 4 Ho-Ro self-propelled gun.References
