Charles Beckendorf is a fictional character in Rick Riordan's "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" stories.

He is a son of Hephaestus and a mortal woman. He's lead counselor and head of Cabin nine at Camp Half-Blood. He has a not-so-secret crush on Silena Beauregard for about three years. He is also African American.

In the books

The Lightning Thief

Charles is briefly referenced as one of the four campers in the Hephaestus Cabin while playing capture the flag.

The Sea of Monsters

Charles is shown to be in charge of the armory at Camp Half-Blood and he participates in both chariot races.

The Titan's Curse

He makes an appearance at the Council Meeting to discuss the prophecy over the capture and kidnapping of Artemis.

The Battle of the Labyrinth

Charles makes a minor appearance near the end when he is shown leading the hephaestus cabin in the battle
