The nominees included four "Doctor Who" episodes written by Steven Moffat, Robert Shearman and Paul Cornell. The other nominees were Anne Cofell Saunders' "Pegasus", Brad Bird's "Jack-Jack Attack", Phil Raines and Ian Sorensen's "Lucas Back in Anger" and Paul J. McAuley and Kim Newman's "Prix Victor Hugo Awards Ceremony" (opening script and framing video).

After voting, the winners were announced at WorldCon, an annual convention produced by the World Science Fiction Society.
