Stefania Craxi

Stefania Gabriella Anastasia Craxi (born October 25, 1960 in Milan) is an Italian politician, who is a member of the Forza Italia party (PdL). She became Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in the cabinet of Silvio Berlusconi on May 12, 2008. [http://www.governo.it/Governo/Biografie/sottosegretari/Craxi_stefania.html]

Career

Stefania Craxi was a television producer until 2000.

After the death of her father Bettino Craxi (Hammamet, January 19 2000) she created the Bettino Craxi Foundation, of which she is currently honorary President.

She is also Chairman of the Young Italy political movement.

She was elected to the Chamber of Deputies on the Forza Italia ticket in the last legislature, and is a member of the national political secretariat of the same party.

She was elected to the Chamber of Deputies on April 13/14, 2008 on The People of Freedom Coalition ticket in the Lombardy 1 (Milan) constituency.

Before “"Lo sbarco. Genesi di una passione politica"” (The Landing. Birth of a Political Passion), published by Koinè Publishing House, she published “"Nella buona e nella cattiva sorte"” (Fates Good and Bad), a book dedicated to the women affected by the “"Tangentopoli"” bribes scandal.

She was appointed Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs by Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on May 12, 2008.

Duties

Within the scope of the political directives issued by the Minister, will assist the Minister in matters concerning:

a) relations with the parliament and the other ministries on the matters listed below and others in compliance with the Minister’s instructions;

b) bilateral relations with the countries of the Middle East and Northern Africa, with the scope of intensifying relations and Italian involvement in the efforts of the various regional and sub-regional intergovernmental organisations, with the exception of themes associated with the peace process;

c) matters associated with Euro-Mediterranean relations;

d) bilateral relations with the countries of Asia, Oceania and the Pacific, with the scope of intensifying relations and Italian involvement in the efforts of the various regional and sub-regional intergovernmental organisations
