- Hillview, Singapore
Hillview is a residential area in the northwestern side of Singapore. Up to the early 1990s, it was a semi-industrial area with tenants such as Castrol. There was also a small HDB estate at the northern end of Hillview, with a community centre, wet market, hawker centre and some neighbourhood shops. Subsequently, these factories made way for new residential developments.
From 1991 till 1997, Hillview was part of the opposition-held seat of Gombak
Single Member Constituency .In 1999, the government announced that the HDB estate would be relocated to Bukit Gombak via the Selective En-bloc Redevelopment Programme. The residents of Hillview started moving in 2003-2005. Late in 2005, the HDB estate was demolished.
Today, the Hillview area boasts several condominiums and landed properties, as one of the higher class residential areas in Singapore. In the years to come, it will be served by the upcoming
Hillview MRT Station byDowntown Line .References
