"PopStar Guitar" is a recently announced music video game that will be published by XS Games. PopStar Guitar is currently set to be released for the Wii and PlayStation 2 late October 2008.

Like many similar instrument themed video games, such as "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band", "PopStar Guitar" will utilize a guitar controller for an input device. The Wii version of the game will have a unique AirG peripheral that turns the Wii Remote into a guitar.

Unlike the other instrument based games, "PopStar Guitar" will focus the soundtrack towards pop artists, as opposed to metal and rock.

Gameplay

The main gameplay in "PopStar Guitar" will be the career mode. "PopStar Guitar" will also feature two-player mode, single player quickplay, as well as multi-player mini-games.

Career mode

The career mode will see the player starting as a garage band before touring across the 25 different in game venues before performing at Battle Of The Bands, which is the final level.

The initial press release stated that the game would contain over 50 songs.

Artists whose tracks will be in the game include Blink 182, 3 Doors Down, and Simple Plan.
