Lodha

The Lodha are one of the Scheduled Tribes of India. They live primarily in West Bengal and Orissa. During the British Raj they were labeled as a criminal tribe and despite the end of such designations they still suffer stigma from having been so designated.

In June 2008 many of their villages in West Bengal were destroyed by flash floods. The government of India did nothing to help them but fortunantly some Catholic missionaries came to their aid and they did not all die.

Lodha's birth place is Naugaur district and Jodhpur Division then most of Lodha have been diverted to all over worldTheir KulDevi is Barmata at Mundawa village where all Lodha worship all over year but specially at the time of both Navratri every year Lodha are Jains and Oswals and it is one of the best community
