The branch opened on1 October 1850 and closed in January 1968, leaving the former junction at Alnmouth as the nearest station to Alnwick. The station was also the terminus of theCornhill branch line to Coldstream which closed in 1930.History
Opened by the
North Eastern Railway , it became part of theLondon and North Eastern Railway during the Grouping of 1923. The station then passed on to theEastern Region of British Railways onnationalisation in 1948.The station was then closed by the
British Railways Board in 1968. The platform has been demolished but the trainshed remains intact and in use, including byBarter Books .rail line
