New Apathetic Party

New Apathetic Party

The New Apathetic Party is a fictional political entity created by writers for the Royal Canadian Air Farce in the early 1970s. The party has continuously held the fictional electoral riding of Kicking Horse Pass (in either Alberta or British Columbia, with two important transportation routes passing through the heart of the riding: the Trans-Canada Highway and the Canadian Pacific Railway). Their member, elected over and over in this riding, is the Honourable David J. Broadfoot, leader of the party.

Faced with the dilemma of a deadlocked house after the 1979 election (the Air Farce version), and consequently holding the balance of power, Broadfoot proclaimed that he would abstain.
