Bruno Vlahek

Bruno Vlahek (Zagreb, 11th February 1986), Croatian pianist and composer.

Graduated piano at the Music Academy in Zagreb with prof. Vladimir Krpan and obtained a soloist diploma with distinction at the Conservatoire de Lausanne with prof. Jean-François Antonioli.

Pianist

Performed in many European countries, as a soloist, chamber musician and with orchestras.

Absolute winner of Croatian national competitions in Dubrovnik in 1999 and 2001 and prizewinner at the international piano competitions in Pinerolo, Moncalieri, EPTA in Osijek, Concours Grieg in Oslo (Special Mention), EPTA – Svetislav Stancic in Zagreb and others. In 2008 he won the first prize at the XIV. International Piano Competition „Ricard Viñes“ in Lleida (Spain). He has specialized at masterclasses with renowned music teachers such as Dmitri Bashkirov, Noel Flores, Einar Steen-Nøkleberg and Jean-Bernard Pommier.

From 2008/09 he is studying with prof. Vassily Lobanov at the Hochschule für Musik Köln.

Composer

He has written about 30 works of various genres, with special emphasis on piano and chamber music. His music has been performed in European music centres such as Salzburg, Munich, Vienna, Lausanne, Prague, Zagreb and other cities in Croatia, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Russia and Venezuela.
